Attended Juilliard School of Drama. When she was 8 she moved from Mexico to San Diego with her mother after her parents' divorce. ABC loved her performance in Spamalot so much that they then offered her a role in any ABC show she wanted. She chose Grey's Anatomy, because she was such a fan of the show. Sara was chosen as one of People Magazine's annual 100 Most Beautiful People in the World, Beauty at Every Age section, for age 31, in May 2007. Sara appeared in a special one-day Broadway performance of Dreamgirls on September 24, 2001. To prepare for her role as orthopedic surgeon Callie Ramirez on Grey's Anatomy, Sara's orthopedic surgeon let her watch real surgeries that he performed. Sara won a SAG Award along with the cast of Grey's Anatomy for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series. After a long recurring role on Grey's Anatomy, she was offered a place as a series regular when the third season opened. She is an alto singer. |
